Poet Tree Collective is a methodology for personal and collective restoration through witnessing the stories we live inside, and alchemizing the way they live in us. It draws on twenty years of documentary storytelling, a decade of in-depth contemplative and shamanic trainings held with reciprocity, and deep reverence for the sacred geometry of the natural world. The documentarian and the shaman meet as one vocation — the light of the camera and the one who sees in the dark — each bridging divides to bring the unseen into view. What you’ll find here is one body of work at two depths — films and plays engaged in the public arena, and private one-on-one offerings held in sacred containers.

As above, so below
Alexandra travels the world as a documentary filmmaker, invited into people's homes and inner lives to co-create the telling of their experiences and personal mythologies. Her work explores sensitive themes — such as the refugee crisis, freedom of speech, environmental degradation, and inequity in women’s health. Across two decades of experience, she knows the subtle art of holding deeply safe spaces for intimate conversations and developed a strong ethical practice of consent in shaping those stories into award-winning films that changed people's hearts and minds.
As within, so without
As a medicine woman and mystic, Alexandra's gift is seeing the innate connections of paradigms at play in our lives and relaying their translation through precise language and wisdom infused art. She is adeptly attuned and studied in personal and collective threshold exploration and whole-heartedly believes that collaborative storytelling can recalibrate and deepen our relationship with our bodies, community and the cosmos. For over a decade she has trained in shamanic and contemplative practices being initiated into sacred lineages that uphold deep ethical principles of transparency, inclusivity and reciprocity.
She survived a near death experience and severe injury, for which she holds a deep capacity, compassion, and knowing for working with emotional and physical trauma — bringing a cellular level of loving awareness to our innate capacity to heal whole.
Alexandra is in love with the natural world and considers the water, the wind, the woods, the winged creatures and the mountains to be her greatest teachers. Poet Tree Collective is inspired by her favorite wisdom tree, Noya Rao of the Peruvian Amazon.

Poet Tree Collective’s methodology grew organically — it is innate by design. Its principles developed from a long-rooted system of observation and engagement in the field, creative work, contemplative studies, shamanic trainings and a set of distinct ethical commitments.

Being precedes doing. The liminal is generative — the pause is not the absence of the work; it is where the work happens.
Presence is not passivity. It is the position from which right action becomes obvious — the living answer to how do you move from the space of being?
TrunkThe Compassionate Witness+
As a filmmaker, I've spent years learning how to witness other people's stories with care. As my work has evolved, I've learned to witness my own story through ritual, observation, and the interweb of relationality. The practice of holding space for witnessing invites people to see that their story is never isolated — it is in relationship with family, culture, place, the body, and the living world.
The principle emphasizes returning to our wholeness. It is the paradigm of moving from the state of separation to the awareness of our interconnectedness, instead of focusing on the axis of “pain” and “healing.”
TrunkAlchemizing Through Agency+
Alchemy emerges from the practice of holding radical self-responsibility of our lives without meandering towards evasiveness nor self-blame. Responsibility grows from the ability to respond versus react from an old paradigm. What has happened to you — even what is happening now — can be transmuted through a choice of transference: not by bypassing what is real, but by choosing what it becomes. Restoring our agency of choice.
Alchemy is the natural evolutionary process where all parts fold into each other, centering in coherence. Authorship returned; the wound worked in the present tense; the choice of what your story becomes, honored as yours.
The AxisThe Coexistence of Unity and Dualism+
A tree lives in both worlds at once: roots in the dark earth, canopy in the light of day, the trunk holding the two as one continuous living body. So does this work. Unity is the ground it trusts — our innate wholeness. Dualism is the world it serves — the two of every dialogue, the story and its witness, chaos or love as a real choice. Neither is the destination nor at dissonance with the other. The balance is learnt to be experienced in the body and the heart.
BranchTranslation and Reciprocity+
The depth and reverence of symbolic indigenous shamanic traditions, such as the sacred Q'ero Andean Medicine Wheel, rendered in language that is accessible and grounded in experience. No framework or belief system is required, and none is imposed.
BranchThe Field of Inquiry+
The dialogue of consciousness where questions are asked not to extract answers but to generate a field of inquiry — the conditions in which your own knowing has spaciousness to emerge. Understanding here is co-created and never transmitted.
BranchSelf-Initiation+
We hear initiation and we think lineage — but self-initiation is our birthright. This practice does not repair broken people; it witnesses whole people remembering their wholeness. It is designed toward its own obsolescence.
CanopyInterdependence, The Living Myth+
The canopy is where individual crowns touch. Your life experienced mythically: not “what happened to me” but “what story is living itself through me?” And the collective turn: witnessing one person's story with dignity is a repair performed on the relational web.

As a filmmaker, Alexandra spent twenty years being welcomed into homes to co-create stories around sensitive subjects — from the refugee crisis on a Greek island to women entrepreneurs across the Middle East to a high-stakes Alzheimer's trial in California. Through that work she refined an ethics of attention, a practice of honoring sovereignty and dignity: how to ask questions without leading; how to honor what's unsaid; how to hold space for ambiguity; how to let meaning emerge; how to trust that revelation comes through relationship. A first-person mythic memoir told in two renderings — the mundane and the visionary, that explores the expanded timeline of a near death experience and its effects on consciousness.
Natura
A feature documentary directed by award winning director Alexandra Liveris and National Geographic photographer Nichole Sobecki and produced by three-time Emmy and Peabody Award–winning Insignia films.
Natura is a poetic immersion into the emotional terrain of the climate crisis, told through four women bound to their land: a Sámi forest guardian, a California fire ecologist, a Kofán warrior of the Amazon, and a Lagos-based climate organizer. They tend, heal, defend, and gather, doing the matriarchal work of keeping the world alive. Woven from intimate vérité, archive, and conversations that echo across continents, the film holds two timeframes at once: the deep, ongoing relationship between the feminine and the earth, and the urgent question of what it means to mother — children, communities, ecosystems — in an age of burning.
Participants as co-authors; a collaborative spoken poem in the women's own voices, filmed across five countries. The form is the argument.
Far From the Good Place
A filmmaker documenting a trial that promises to cure the disease attacking one in ten women's bodies, meets a patient who could be her double — same wounds, same unreachable memory — and the film she was hired to make becomes the one thing standing between them and the truth they share.
“The unreliability of memory is not isolated to the individual, but rests with the collective's disassociation from our innate unity. We don't believe the ‘victim’ because hidden parts of us know it's not her story — it is our story. If we subconsciously are blocked from recognizing our own collective pain, then we can't recognize the individual experience of it. If we can consciously understand that her story is our story — that what she feels in her body is not just what happened to her, but what is happening to us all — then we can be in affirmation with each other, for each other.”Alexandra Liveris
